It makes me really mad too.
I was affected by rape as a child. So many friends of mine were too. Some of us got abortions, some of us didn't, some of us were lucky enough not to fall pregnant.
Several friends and I all talked about it with each other years ago...Some of us were happy to have aborted, two persons regrets it-but only because they felt pressured to do it and would have liked some time to think about it. One person wishes she had gotten an abortion.
Some of us kept it all secret, some of us were pressured by family or religion to pick one way or the other. For some of us Family was the reason we were raped. Family the reason no charges were made. (Can't have a scandal...or ruin the family's reputation or wealth by letting people know your daughter was raped and you want justice) You'd think not seeking justice would be the reputation ruining thing to do...but nope.
All of us as those scared kids and teenagers seriously considered killing ourselves, and or killing our rapists and ourselves at one point. And that is down to a lack of support, justice, and choices, and social and family failure and trauma.
And that is what taking away the choice of abortion will do for rape survivors. It's another person kicking us when we are down. Another person not giving a shit or listening to us about what we want for our body. Another person controlling the narrative of our life: Great, forced to have a baby while being a child myself...now we are single mothers at the age of 11-14 and No one wants to help us, or if they do they will probably be verbally abuse and bitter towards us...and every opportunity will be more limited and most people will judge us negatively the rest of our lives.
Or I could give up the baby for adoption and forever wonder if the child has ended up in a string of abusive and/neglectful families rather then a good family. Personally, a I'd rather mercifully never birth a child then let a child of mine experience that hell.
Alot of Kids who don't have any support system to whisk them away to another state or country to get an abortion are going to kill themselves. And the political party who is outspoken about making rape survivors carry the baby, is also a party unwilling to help provide welfare or counseling, or support or resources to help mother or a baby after it's born. They'd rather people kill themselves or live long enough to suffer even more (because they aren't willing to help). Yet they say they are Prolife. Prolife, my ass! 😡
I was really mad at a law that was proposed a few months ago in which the rapists family would be able to sue the rape victim for getting an abortion! I couldn't believe that it was getting a bunch of support.
So many things wrong with the USA. We've been seriously looking into moving to another country and taking my husband's parents with us. Especially since I do not want to raise a child in the USA. This place is f'ed

@Scribbles I am so sorry. I was 8 so not old enough to get pregnant.

@iamonfire696 We've all suffered. I'm so sorry you had to go through what you did. 😢 🤗
I don't want this about me. Not at all. Maybe I should have never included myself...because I really was one of the luckier ones out of some my friends. Because everything...could have been much worse . Idk.
It's also why I talked more collectively because many of my friends and I all had different rape and abuse stories. Of those raped or abused, They had the abortion stories not me These kinds of stories need to be heard! They were and are much braver then I am. And I feel defensive on behalf of them for it too. It's ridiculous the struggles they had to deal with JUST because they spoke up to their family for HELP. Or JUST because THEY became pregnant after one rape, or several, or years of rape. . :/
That could have been me. So easily could have been me. It would have certainly been the last straw. I would have almost certainly killed myself and maybe my abuser as well. Idk.
And It makes me afraid for people-especially children today. Abortion needs to be a choice.

@Scribbles You have a very good outlook though. Thinking it could have been worse. None of it should have happened to any of us. These stories do need to be told and heard. Forcing a 10 year old to give birth is insanity. It’s hard enough on a woman but a child, it could do damage that lasts the rest of her life. I can’t even have anymore babies and I don’t live in the US but what’s happening there makes me so angry and filled with rage.

@MalteseFalconPunch I don't think he can see this, I think he was blocked. I'll send it to him in a pm.

There was literally an article today about a 10-year-old girl traveling to the state I live in from the next state over to get an abortion.

@SW-User This is the stuff that fuels revolutions but lot people seem to be asleep.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@SW-User I was just reading that and holy fuck I didn't think it would take this little time for the horror stories to start emerging.

Why'd they let her keep the baby? Poor this girl. This is one of reason why I support abortion.
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
How is it possible, I thought they would at least have exceptions...
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
I can't wrap my head around what the hell happened with that country.

This is why a mass general strike is needed. Mass protest.

Some states are talking about banning birth control and not allowing women to go to another state for an abortion. It’s really sad.
Miram · 31-35, F
@iamonfire696 Someone told me that is the end game. Entirely banning birth control and forcing people to be married before having sex.
Which will negatively affect both men and women's rights.

@Miram I completely agree. I don’t understand this. Once the baby is born they want nothing to do with supporting the woman or baby. It’s sad.
