My grandma used Ponds cold cream to remove her makeup, Ivory soap to wash, and Avon lotion to moisturize.

She died in her late 70s looking 55. Now I feel like skin care routines require a degree in chemistry to figure out. Kids today have it so complicated. My eyes glaze over when they start talking to me about all their serums and potions.

Also, I recently gave into nostalgia and bought some Ponds and it does NOT smell the same as I remember. It made me very sad but it does remove my water proof eyeliner like a champ.

My grandma used Listerine mouthwash and that’s the memory I have.

Nowadays when something I used to use smells different, I just figure they finally took out the asbestos.

@Mamapolo2016 Did she use it as an astringent? My mom used Sea Breeze, another distinctive smell from my childhood but not associated with good memories lol.

Cackling at the last part. 🤣
@SwampFlower I’ve thought about that now and again. It was an overwhelming odor. The entire bathroom reeked of Listerine. I think she may have used it to disinfect.

Her next-door neighbor, Mary, had a parrot. I never saw it but you could hear “Maasaryyyyyy” screeching all day. I never heard anything else from that invisible parrot.
My grandmother used Oil of Olay when it was just a lotion. She didn’t wear makeup but her skin was pretty much blemish and wrinkle-free all her life.

@bijouxbroussard Beauty fluid! What marketing 🤭 that term is going into my daily vocabulary now.

My Mom used Ivory and so do I cos I'm 99 44/100 percent pure😹

@bookerdana I find all the bar soaps too drying for me but I love the way Ivory and the OG pink Caress smell.

@SwampFlower I used Caress one brutal winter but it slid out of its box and clogged my toilet😭

I denied all wrong doing but the landlay kept the @!$@ thing the plumber snaked up😅

No idea what my mother used as makeup remover. Yet I distinctly remember mom insisting on Nivea skincare product.

I think my father made a mistake once. 🤣

@DeWayfarer Nair instead of Nivea? 🤭

I like the Nivea hand creams that come in the little flat tin cans.

@SwampFlower Oh don't get into Nair subject. Mom once used it as a bath additive! 🤣
Nothing beats genetics tbh but a skincare routine is good to have and from my experience most professionals keep it minimal to 3-4 products

@PepsiColaP I just use makeup remover, gentle cleanser, and moisturizer. 🤷🏽‍♀ I tried to get fancy a few times and it didn’t work out ahaha

I use Dove, Ponds and Nivea.
I prefer to leave my skin in its natural state, which is rhino hide. I moisturise with sand 👀

My skincare routine involves direct sunlight, lava soap, and old spice aftershave
