Did you know you can make your own pH indicator out of red cabbage. You can do cool experiments with the kids

Just be careful with the boiling water. Oh and don't pour boiling water into a glass, the glass will break!!

1. Prepare the cabbage
Tear a few red cabbage leaves into small pieces. You can also cut the cabbage into strips.

2. Boil the cabbage
Boil the cabbage in water until the water turns a deep purple.

3. Strain the cabbage
Strain the cabbage leaves out of the water. The remaining liquid is your red cabbage pH indicator.

And of course the cabbage leaves mixed with some apple will make a lovely side dish. 😀

What now does the liquid change color to indicate the PH of what it is added to?
