Nuclear Chemistry is cray-cray

Very, very interesting subject.
It's a lot more complicated that just regular chemistry (in which electrons are pretty much dealing with the reactions amongst themselves leaving the number of protons and neutrons the same) considering that, with nuclear chemistry, one must know the difference between alpha, beta, and gamma rays, along with fission and fusion. Nuclear chemistry tends to do quite the opposite in the sense of, if neutrons and protons (aka both neutrons and protons create a nucleus) were to be involved with the reaction, a bunch of energy will then be released. 🥴
This will then create a(n) unstable amount of neutrons and protons in which will then create radioactivity (also known as radioactive decay) which is the decay of the nucleus to form a more stable/different nucleus. Now the dangerous ionizing radiation that everyone is scared about for example the after effects of atomic bombs and getting cancer or mutations as it penetrates ones skin, cells, DNA, even cells organelles would be gamma radiation. Gamma radiation is pure energy, as for alpha and beta they can be dangerous but have barriers to it. For example alpha radiation can be stopped by something simple as a piece of cloth and beta radiation can be stopped by the first layer of skin (a.k.a UV protection or sunscreen).

There is so much information about this and like it makes me look like such a nerd, but I applaud those who study this and there is so much more to be learned about it. People are scared to study it and do experiments in the sense of the fear of getting radiation poisoning. Which I totally understand. If one were to be exposed to radiation depending on how much ionized radiation they got, to be honest you'll die. There can't necessarily be a cure considering that gamma radiation has already altered the DNA and penetrated the skin, but there could be different ways/ experiments in which could flush out all the radiation from continuing to do more damage than it already has internally. There's already decontamination to remove external radioactive particles, but nothing is getting done internally which is the biggest issue.
