We had a rat scratching around in the attic of our farmhouse one time. We were sitting at the kitchen table having breakfast. My uncle heard it and said “By the sounds of that scratching it must be a huge rat. He took his shotgun with him and sure enough it was, cornered him and shot him. The fat tail was almost a foot long.
