In the modern era ?
Most of them.
That's the Problem the older you get the more you've seen this stuff before.
Back then it was exciting and new whereas today it seems hackneyed and overdone.
Can you compare those of the past to those of the present day ?
I suppose one interesting case is that of James Bond.
A dozen different actors and varying degrees of script and direction quality.
But then again, somebody thought the best way to extend that series was to kill off two of the best characters in their iconic roles namely Judi Dench and Daniel Craig.

@Picklebobble2 Or the WORST actors in those roles?I couldnt do with Judi Dench "M" should be male,and Craig was just pants as Bond.Too short,and stocky.

@Nimbus I think we knew TV drama was going to decline when people like Jimmy McGovern and Lynda La Plante retired.
Their unique brand of writing and characters had held us all captive with drama such as Prime suspect and Cracker and the like for twenty years !
Then we had the explosion of the internet and the lack of funding for television and the result is what we're left with today.

@wonkywinky Craig's Bond is the closest in character to Fleming's creation.
Constantly proving that no matter how successful he was never going to be interested in the 'Public schoolboy' image preferred by his superiors.
Dench was ok as 'M'. A very one dimensional character before 'Skyfall' reveals something of her past.
Pity they killed her off as THAT might have been an avenue worth further exploration.
