Rock On Meatloaf

Meatloaf is yet another celebrity I have identified with after learning his story. He struggled with his weight his whole life. His struggles as “the fat kid” are well documented along with failing to please a perpetually disappointed father. I identify with these issues. I feel that struggle.

It seems impossible that someone that talented cannot feel success because of self image issues. I can’t feel success even though, by all accounts, I live a great life. It helps give me perspective. Maybe these stories can help you.

Meatloaf and Chris Farley are only a couple of high profile examples. The battle is with yourself. Not friends. Not family. Not world approval. Winning over the masses is worthless until you’ve won your own approval.

If you are going to work to change, change what you don’t like about you before you worry about what others think. If you can’t learn to be comfortable with who you are and where you are, success and money only intensify the feelings of shame and self doubt.

The master of Operatic Rock. Wow, did he know how to lay it out.

I just watched a few hours of him on YouTube. What a master of his art. In his interactions with Karla DeVito, Patti Russo, Ellen Foley, and all there was a hint of Louie Prima and Keely Smith, but upped quite a few hundred notches :) The hunger in his face and voice was like so authentic. And of course Karla as a fortified Cher.

@Heartlander So unappreciated because his compositions weren’t compatible with radio format or vinyl singles. Same issue Queen had with Bohemian Rhapsody. It was too long for the conventions of the time. I hate to say it but now that he has passed his work will finally get noticed.

@ShreksHouse Yep. Music had way too long been controlled by commercial radio that needed to air a commercial message every 3 or 4 minutes.

@Heartlander Thank you so much for that link. I’ve never seen that performance. I’ve watched it a couple of times. Prolly gone post it later as recommended listening

Neither does Elton John. Meatloaf’s vision drove the production. It really is some complicated music@Lostpoet
