How old was the Blessed Virgin Mary when she gave birth to the Saviour?

Historical Context, Jewish Tradition & Early Christian Sources. The canonical Gospels do not record a specific age for the Virgin Mary at the time she conceived Jesus, but historical and cultural evidence leads most scholars to estimate a likely range of about 12–15 years.

It’s something that has always resonated with me, and more so with the fact that my own daughter is eleven years old. Jewish women in Ancient times were never teenagers like we are able to be these days, you went from childhood straight into adulthood with your Bat Mitzvah. You were recognised as an adult the minute you were able to get your period!

In Islamic countries this has been brought forward to today, and they view the teenager phase of life as a delusion of the West and of Christian countries, and that is really why we must resist the immigration of these people who do not value our culture, and actually prey upon our young adults who are pubescent.

A mother is doubly “unclean” if she has a daughter

Leviticus 12:1–5 “The Lord said to Moses,‘Say to the people of Israel, If a woman conceives, and bears a male child, then she shall be unclean seven days; as at the time of her menstruation, she shall be unclean. And on the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised. Then she shall continue for thirty-three days in the blood of her purifying; she shall not touch any hallowed thing, nor come into the sanctuary, until the days of her purifying are completed. But if she bears a female child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her menstruation; and she shall continue in the blood of her purifying for sixty-six days.
’” RSV

That’s the value of culture
