Does anyone else think it was wrong to punish the Navy Seals for flying a Trump flag from a military vehicle?

I think they got what they deserved. That is not appropriate.

Well he is the Commander in Chief so why not

Because it's against DOD regulations.

@Booyeah: how so?

@Sissycindysue: Because it infers military endorsement of a particular partisan activity or cause.

@Booyeah: he is commander and chief why would that be any different than if they flew a general's flag or an admiral's flag if they had one?

@Sissycindysue: The only thing Generals and Admirals get is a star-plate or small flags that show their number of rank stars, 1, 2, 3, or 4. They don't get a flag personalized with their name because your loyalty is to their rank and position, not to their person. For the same reason it's inappropriate to fly a Trump campaign flag, your loyalty is to the position of Commander-in-Chief, not to the person.

@Booyeah: that doesn't make a bit of sense you can be loyal to a person as well as to their rank my father was in the Navy and he was very loyal and friends with people of higher rank that doesn't make a bit of sense

@Sissycindysue: It's to avoid situations like ancient Rome, where soldiers were singularly loyal to their Generals instead of the Roman Senate and later Roman Emperor.
