Why do women back away from the idea of being drafted to the military? Why is it only men who have to submit to that?
I'm talking about the USA. Here in Australia there is no draft, or conscription, or Selective Service System currently, so the ADF is totally staffed with people who freely and willingly wish to join a branch of the military.
If in the USA women were made to accept the same responsibilities towards their country as men, what would happen? If the Selective Service System was expanded to include women as well as men, what would happen?
I note that from Dec this year men aged 18 to 26 will automatically be registered in the system instead of the current process where men are required to take the step of registering for the SSS themselves, and face consequences if they don't.
