Why would anyone with options join the US military?

You hit it.. "Options" Lack of education and a background of family poverty. Or a directed program as a term in the military as an option to prison..GI Benefits used to be a way out for some..Now I am not so sure..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman I could see if I came from a total nightmare of an upbringing at least the military provides structure and an escape from a minimum wage life and the ever present threat of homelessness.

@Bumbles Exactly. Now a person more conspiracy minded than I might wonder if this pool of "potential recruits" was kept in existence deliberately, to fuel Americas overseas interests..😷
