What are your thoughts on the military?

I was in the military for 21 years

I think those who serve are a special mix of brave and crazy.
Maybe that's what you have to be whichever service you're in.

It's quite something to put your trust in a bunch of strangers who seem to yell at you 24/7 as you go through basic.

It's quite something to put your trust in the guy/gal beside you as you advance on a beachhead or try to cook for 150 people above you in a force 9 gale at sea as shells explode all around you.

It's quite something to try and keep track of minutes and mph as you fly over enemy territory with those below you trying to knock you out of the sky.

Yep. A special blend of brave and crazy.

Present day? The military has become an arena for political promotions. Too many chiefs, and too many of those are woke, and not enough Indians.

I think it's fucked up that families are split and husband's and fathers come home with PTSD only because they found no job with enough income. The military should not be for the desperate but for those who have nothing to lose.

I don't like militaries but in this world they are a necessary evil.
