Afghanistan - ‘an extraordinary success’?

We now have an American president who wants us to completely change the meaning of words in that the completely bungled evacuation of Afghanistan is now hailed as an extraordinary success. The fact that lives were lost, millions of dollars of valuable equipment were left behind in the hands of very dangerous terrorists, the lives of men women and children who are left behind our risk, and the place is again to become a hotbed of terrorism to the world, is ‘an extraordinary success’? It was an extraordinary success- for those gunmen who are parading their stuff in Kabul knowing they have completely humiliated America and it’s weak, bungling president

There's no shame in getting beaten by the Afghans. They beat the British three times and also the Russians, so why not America too? Afghanistan cannot be conquered and held, for its mountains make travel near impossible and Afghan troops are constantly resupplied from Pakistan. The American withdrawal WAS largely successful, and despite the poor planning conceived under Trump. Lastly, I just want to say that I'm not fooled by weak Republican rhetoric that easily.

@Grvstu The evacuation plan was followed. The intel about enemy movement and strength was simply wrong. The Taliban were already positioned ahead of expected. Angry fools want to spin this into a big stain on Biden's reputation, but all he did was to give a single order to commence the withdrawal. After that it was all armed forces doing.

@Grvstu It's troubling how you misconstrue Biden accepting advice from official advisors as having ignored advice from other 'wannabe' advisors. You have a knack for peddling disinformation. It WAS a hugely successful withdrawal. It was completed exactly on schedule, and the very few US deaths mainly resulted from a non-Taliban ultra-radical group attacking the airport. It could have gone much worse.
