F-22 Raptor. Best fighter yet created.

YEEEEEEES!! <3 <3
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@PaintedVeil: Glad you approve! Favorite non-fighter plane is the SR-71 Blackbird.
Scubaguy027 · 46-50, M
Hate rain on your parade but not so much. Look at its RADAR compared to the APG-79 in a Super Hornet.
PaintedVeil · 41-45, F
@Scubaguy027: it is okay Scuba. we still love our Raptors :D
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@Scubaguy027: Yeah, but head to head, the Raptor beats the Super Hornet.
Scubaguy027 · 46-50, M
@HoraceGreenley: I wish I could get ahold of a tape from one of my pilots during a red flag. The LCDR got behind him and a got a gun kill. Give me a few and I'll find the pick of a E/A-18G with a raptor "kill" silhouette

BOOM
Scubaguy027 · 46-50, M
@HoraceGreenley: have you ever read about the A-12 Oxcart or YF-12. Good read
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@Scubaguy027: I believe it:

1. Obviously you are a pro
2. If the fight is close enough for a gun kill, then the Hornet would win.

I'm assuming in real combat the F-22 would take out the Hornet before being detected.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@Scubaguy027: I have actually. They were the prototypes made before the SR-71, right?
Scubaguy027 · 46-50, M
@HoraceGreenley: that exercise was set up in such a way where the stealth guys went in and the top look was watching the "friendlies" not the "enemies" which kind of makes you think if your at 40k and I'm at 20k and just explode what in the hell happened. Makes for some interesting combat. And that particular pilot, oh hell yes he was a pro and then some.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@Scubaguy027: so i take it you are a pilot?
Scubaguy027 · 46-50, M
@HoraceGreenley: prototype no. The A-12 was a single seat black program that was so successful a two seat "white" program came out which became the SR-71. The YF-12 was going to be an armed interceptor variant of the SR-71
Scubaguy027 · 46-50, M
@HoraceGreenley: not a pilot but a retired Navy avionics tech that is in school for a FAA A&P license that reads alot and loves aviation.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@Scubaguy027: Well you clearly know a lot based on that background.

What is FAA A&P license?
Scubaguy027 · 46-50, M
@HoraceGreenley: Federal Aviation Administration Airframes and Powerplants license. When I'm finished with school I will be certified to work on everything from a Cessna to a Rocket. But I will always love my Hornets
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@Scubaguy027: Gotcha! Well the Hornet is a helluva plane.
Scubaguy027 · 46-50, M
@HoraceGreenley: I love it but hated a few engineers that designed a few things
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@Scubaguy027: I would imagine a tech like you and engineers would get into it once in a while.
Scubaguy027 · 46-50, M
@HoraceGreenley: here's a pic of me and some of the boys between launches on the USS Reagan [image deleted]
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@Scubaguy027: Cool. A terrific ship. My father was on the Saratoga in the 50's as an electrician.
Scubaguy027 · 46-50, M
@HoraceGreenley: a few times. It takes a high school diploma to fix what a pilot with a bachelors broke that was designed by an engineer with a masters
Scubaguy027 · 46-50, M
@HoraceGreenley: damn. I was never on the Saratoga but on the Independence which was the same class so damn he was a hardworking man.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@Scubaguy027: Sounds like something a Navy guy would say!
