I try not to.

@sarabee1995 Why should I waste my time thinking about an organisation that trains people to kill?
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@Crazychick Yes, we do. But we also train extensively to maintain the peace. No one abhors war more than those who job it is to execute it.
Crazychick · 36-40, F
@sarabee1995 You execute war by executing people?
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Crazychick I don't think executions are part of the rules of engagement 😅
Crazychick · 36-40, F
@Kwek00 Engagement? What are you trying to do, make war sound romantic?
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@Crazychick
I said nothing about executing people. 🙄
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@Kwek00 Yeah, but in your case I might make an exception! ;)
Crazychick · 36-40, F
@sarabee1995 I was only taking it literally as English people are wont to do.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Crazychick I'm not really part of the romantic-war clique. I do know writers that romanticise war quite a bit... but please don't put them in my camp.

But generally... yes, there are actually rules about war. That doesn't mean they are applied all the time. Specially in these times where for some strange reason people seem to think the UN as a broken institution. But yes, there have been moments (trough the ages btw) that not only where there rules in war... these were also followed up.

UN resolutions btw, abide by rules of war. Why are there rules in a conflict? Because most actors in a conflict seek for legitimacy to support their actors in an international and national context.

@Kwek00 I was just taking your words literally, it's my English education and upbringing. I dare say you meant something completely different, like calling a cat a hippopotamus or something.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Crazychick happens, I'm not an english speaking person either.
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@Crazychick Yes, and literally it means to put into effect a planned course of action. 🙄
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@Crazychick To take words literally is not a problem. But to do so, one must know the meaning of the words.
