Any military nuts here?

Would you say this is in truth a carrier? If it looks like a carrier and is expected to behave like a carrier why not call it a carrier?

It is a carrier/amphibious assault ship. What's the problem

@quitwhendone they don’t call it that.
@Longpatrol What do they call it?
Longpatrol · 31-35, M
@quitwhendone the italians call it a Landing Helicopter Dock
@Longpatrol The US calls its similar ships the same. The amphibious assault ships have the designation LHD. As in LHD-6 for the USS Bonhomme Richard.
@Longpatrol The ships also carry landing craft in an aft dock.

From the Wiki article:
The ship will be equipped with heavy and medium helicopters (EH101 and NH90 respectively) and Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning II aircraft. It will have a floodable well deck below the hangar level able to accommodate amphibious landing vessels such as LCM (new Cantieri Navali Vittoria LCM23 type), LCAC, and newer L-CAT (Landing Catamaran) vessels. It also can carry Ariete MBT, B1 Centauro tank destroyers, and up to 600 soldiers. Its base will be in Taranto.
