I remember and old (US) civil war sub that was once part of the old Cabildo Museum in New Orleans.

I imagine the very first to see combat and inflict damage was a few years before that.

Think it occurred in Boston harbor but I don’t recall the name. Another encounter of the first submarine was by Archimedes.. first submarine designs were by him
