Trump says that if the caravan reaches the border he will deploy the military. Can the military be used on American soil?

Is that what's known as martial law?

@Serenitree It's a lot different. Martial law is put into place after huge storms, for one example I can pull right off the top of my head. It gives the police and local law enforcement the power to enforce curfews and vehicle restrictions.

We are talking about the army or other branches of the service being sent down to the border to repel invaders, because that is the only way we can legally use the military on American soil.

@4meAndyou You are American; yes? I'm not. You know a lot about America and the American political machine and laws etc. I've been learning a lot, from you, but I don't retain it all, so, when you give me a new piece of info, I copy it and paste into a notebook titled American history from 4meandyou. I'm hoping that, if the subjects ever arise I won't be quite as unlearned s I have, up to this point. Hopefully, what I've learned will float to the top of my mind when needed.

@Serenitree Well I am amazingly flattered! I am glad I do my research, too, so that you will have accurate information. 🇺🇸 🙂 Yes, I am American, and I was what is called an army brat. My Dad was a Bird Colonel in the US Army, so I have a lot of interest in what is going on. I am just tickled that you consider me a source. 😍

@4meAndyou You are someone who seems not only knowledgeable, but not confrontational. I veer away from the people who think every question about what they've said is a challenge. I never choose to challenge anyone on anything about which I know virtually nothing. I appreciate your store of knowledge and the concise way in which you present it.

@Serenitree Bless you for saying so. I try very hard. As you know it's become increasingly difficult. 😉

@4meAndyou Everybody has their own opinions, to which they are perfectly welcome, and entitled, but the funniest is when I see two people in a heated dispute, and when I analyze what each is saying, it turns out, they have the same opinions, but different ways of expressing themselves. It might be regional dialects or idioms that lead them to misunderstandings, but if they took a few minutes to think, they'd realize; they aren't on opposite sides.
