Crimson Tide or Hunt for Red October?

Which is better?

Hunt for Red October is more ingenious & has (IMO) far more sympathetic characters, without any real need for an onscreen villain - a rare thing in a thriller.

also ... Run Silent Run Deep is pretty old, but still a good sub movie

@firefall When is it set? Are there any WW1 sub movies? The only thing I can think of is a Lusitania drama...
firefall · 61-69, M
@ElGuapo WW2 Pacific. I dont think I've seen any WW1 sub movies at all, surprisingly

thats tough both are good shows same for daboot and other uboat and submarine movies
Well I’d assume anything with the words crimson tide in the title would be full of elephant shit. So, hunt for red october.

Dasboot is far and away most authentic and accurate film on submarine warfare

@Dlrannie true, but it's a different class of movie, to my mind - a serious drama, not a simple thriller

@firefall Based on fact and not Hollywood fantasy

and U571 the enigma code machine and codes to break German communications link and understand it
Dlrannie · 31-35, F
@FurryFace Pure Hollywood fantasy - the British Navy had captured an Enigma machine before the US even entered the war.

One of my to do list includes seeing the U-505 in the museum in Chicago
