Just thinking about some of these "stolen valor" guys. Some of them are true scum-bags, but I think quite a few of them have a mental condition .....

that actually makes them believe they are soldiers or feel a desperate need to portray one. I kind of feel bad for the ones who are picked on and yelled at, when it's kind of obvious that they are in their own little world.
The ones who fake it for money or freebies are a different story though.

I’ve never been in the army, but got flashbacks looking at the rice paddies in Bali.. started quoting Major Payne..
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Yeah, every time Jimi Hendrix's version of "All Along the Watchtower" Plays, I roll around on the floor and scream "Sappers in the wire! Sappers in the wire!" , and I don't even know what that means! 😁
@puck61 lolz.
Way too many Vietnam movies were made.. hamburger hill was always another fave
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout I was post Vietnam era and that usually brings sneers from veterans who saw action. Glorified boy-scout with a less than illustrious record. The Army under Jimmy Carter was about as soft as it has ever been. They hadn't started the piss tests yet, and the drugs were unbelievable in Ft. Lewis, drugs, alcohol , and sex seemed to be 50% of soldiering for a good many troops.
