I have bad luck finding jobs. [I Really Hate My Job]

It feels like the spirits/powers that be are against me. Every time I come close to getting a new job, and getting my hopes up to leave my current job, it ends up not working out.

There was a job for U-haul that I applied for, where they told me I would be a good fit, and I got 2 interviews. The recruiter really liked me and told me I had what it takes. The hiring manager told me she would be in touch, and would tell me what the next steps were. Everything seemed to be going great. Then I got a rejection letter, and an apology from the recruiter telling me the manager felt that I lacked computer literacy...That boggles my mind, as I’m more tech savvy for being a woman of my age than a lot of women my age, and I am a tech support agent who works from home.

Since then, I have had several rejection letters from different companies. The latest one was from earlier (2/4/21), where my application actually passed their requirements, and they interviewed me and sent me the next steps...then they allowed me to start taking a study course for 3 exams before the final hiring interview to start training. I was more than half way through the study portion when I received an email stating that they are no longer accepting applications for that position (even though they had accepted mine), and the position was no longer available...and they encourage me to apply to other positions they have available. Needless to say, I cried.

Next week on Monday, I start cross training for the billing department in my current job. I’m not looking forward to it, and was trying very hard to avoid having to take billing calls. I already know what kind of customers to expect when it comes to billing. They are very angry/unhappy/disappointed/impatient people, who want to bully you into lowering their bill or giving them some sort of credit or arrangement because they aren’t able to afford their bill. I am tech support. I didn’t sign up for this, and they aren’t giving us a raise. It’s bad enough they floated us to take hotel calls for people who don’t have a modem, so we aren’t able to troubleshoot the modem.

I’m sick of my job, and there’s nothing I haven’t done to put myself in a better position. Every effort I’ve made has fallen through, for no good reason.
Is there any reason you might be giving the impression you are not prepared? Do you smell? Or is it really that much of a shitty market out there? Maybe just bad luck. I really hope you find something better soon!

@lovelywarpedlemon I always take a shower and dress professionally before an interview, even though they are phone/video interviews. It’s bad luck. I have 21 years of customer service experience working face to face mostly, and 2 years total working from home. I also have a little sales experience (5 years). I’m friendly, loyal, and reliable. So I’m really not sure what it is that makes me fall off the ladder.
@PoisonLace sorry! something will come up!
