I just wrote to a recruiter when they rejected me before an interview

"Are you kidding me? I've probably taken more AI courses than anyone applying and I got highest grade in each and every one, and I can't even get this underpaid job? Dear lord."

😂😂😂

The grad to job ratio is pretty rough these days. You will more than likely need to start low and slow and work your way up. Having a degree doesn’t necessarily give you the top experience you believe you have. You still need experience within the company. That starts at the bottom. It sucks, but that’s the reality.

@Pinkstarburst There is no bottom, the concept of starting at the bottom has completely disappeared. That's the problem.
@MartinTheFirst Not really. There is always a bottom. People are just not willing to do the work to get where they want to be. Experience is more than a college degree.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@Pinkstarburst Do you have any experience to back that statement up? Seriously there are no jobs!
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@Pinkstarburst Btw I didnt go to college, I've got master's degree at a university
@MartinTheFirst So that means you went to college. And, yes, I have experience in this. I may not have pieces of paper and letters after my name, but I know what it is to start at the bottom stuffing envelopes after doing my job for 10 years. And no, it wasn’t because I wanted to.

@Pinkstarburst No, colleges do not offer master degrees. Learn your own system ffs, it's not even ours. 😂

@Pinkstarburst I'm afraid "stuffing letters" isn't exactly a software job.
@MartinTheFirst You would be surprised what you will do when you have rent to pay. The idea that a six figure job is waiting with your name on it after a degree is a big and usually disappointing expectation.

Software companies are on every corner these days. Unfortunately, that means there is an over saturation of people wanting the jobs.

What are you even talking about anymore? 😅 There ARE 👏 NO 👏 JOBS!
@MartinTheFirst I know you think I don’t get it, but I do. There are a million people with master and event doctorate degrees working in shitty jobs that have nothing to do with their degrees. I work at a university. Today and tomorrow I will see over 800 people get a piece of paper that may or may not mean a thing in their future.

@MartinTheFirst I think you should look at all options in the companies you are interest in. Aim for the sky! You deserve it after all the work you have put into your degree. Just make note that the email you sent them may not be the best way to encourage getting an interview. No one is going to be impressed with a smartass. Sell your knowledge. They can discover your “pleasant” personality once you get the job.

@Pinkstarburst I know, I'm never going to apply there again because their application process was hell, it took 1 hour to answer all their questions, just to get a "sorry" email, meanwhile they offer 30% lower wages than the minimum wage for entry level people in my field.
@MartinTheFirst Yikes! Good idea. I really do wish you the best on your hunt. I’m cheering you on!
