How do you job search in this modern world?

I went and bought a Sunday paper last Sunday just to look at the want ads. There where no job posted in the newspaper.

I even started driving to companies and asking for a job application. Some have still have paper applications (I'm thankful for) and some don't.

I don't know how to search or appliy for jobs the modern way.

The last time I had to search for a job was over 20 years ago. The world has changed without me.

Click in the "Where" field, input your zipcode and click "Search". Local jobs are shown. If you add your resume I imagine you might get headhunted. However, I have never used the site, I was in employment from when I left school in 1963 up until I retired in 2012 so I have never used online job hunting.

I guess I have to digitize my resume. I did mine on my typewriter because my printer stopped working

Thank you, I still have to learn the new way.
Everything is online now either through the job centre or employment agencies. So many more to choose from now than looking in the paper

Depends on a job, I guess, but generally you react on offers on websites. Either they have a form right there but that's rather rare and more often you're supposed to send them E-mail with your CV, cover letter, portfolio etc. Or you can call their number and ask if they have a free position you'd like to work at.

Yeah, I never in my life looked for a job on-line before. I've always used the newspaper, because thats what I was taught in highschool

How does it work

Online. Look up the local companies websites and apply directly online.

If you work a corporate job, you may want to work with a head hunter.

I never in my life looked for a job on-line

@HumanEarth Curriculum Vitae

A CV – or Curriculum Vitae – is an itemized list of a person's entire education, publications, accomplishments, notable projects, awards, honors, achievements, and professional experiences.

Yeah, I never applied for a job on-line before. This is all new to me

But since my company laid me off for having epileptic seizures after many years of service.

Farming pays, but not just enough to make it when I have disabled people living in my home
Go to your local unemployment office. Fuck, 51-55 and you don't know how to look for work, pathetic 🙄
@HumanEarth Surprised it's still up and running, 98SE hasn't had updates in close to 20 years
