Is software engineering a good field to switch to at age 36?

I was accepted to a program...
I'm not even that good at math but would love to try.

Yes i am aware of ai and its interference in the field.

You don't need math for software engineering. Experienced software engineers currently make excellent money. The only thing that has to be considered is how disrupted it will be by AI, as I see you're considering

@averageguy yes, I've been reading online and know of two people already who told me their friends were laid off. But needed some more opinion of people who are actually in the field.
