The people that sit in booths outside of stores and ask for donations
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@caPnAhab I have not encountered those, but some are fraudulent, pretending to be acting for charities that look real but don't exist.
@ArishMell MOST are fraudulent.

@PhoenixPhail @ArishMell

Hopefully I wasn't scammed out of 8 dollars..
@caPnAhab Well, if that's all you were scammed out of, that's not bad.

@ArishMell They're usually a different company that collects for legit charities. But if you read the fine print. 90% of what you donate is taking out in Clerical duties and only 10% gets to where its needed.

@Thevy29 A problem that's been identified in Britain is people masquerading as real charities by using very similar names.

The matter of so much the income, even of a real charity, being taken in salaries and administration is a very common and real; though it likely varies considerably from charity to charity.
