Update on life

A lot has happened since I posted last. After my cat passed away, we got a new kitten about 2 months later... I wasn't ready, but my boyfriend wanted a new kitten, and he thought it would be good for our other cat who was grieving the loss of his buddy. The kitten is now almost a year and a half old, and he is doing well.

My 16 year old disabled Papillon passed away last May, not long after the cat who had kidney disease. We found Gizmo (the dog) having a seizure in his bed, and had to make the sad decision to call Lap of Love. They came out that day, and we said goodbye to our sweet boy.

Later that year, I decided to take a leap of faith in myself and enrolled in classes for a Certificate in 3D Arts. I just graduated on May 8th with all A's. Unfortunately, it's been hard to find a job in the field, and I've been seeing a lot of job positions for Character Modeling, which the certificate left out. So, I will be auditing a class for Character Modeling Fundamentals in August, and probably the other classes after that. Hopefully I can land a job (even if entry level) after that. I don't care what position I get, as long as it's something. I no longer want to be doing miserable jobs that only see me as a number. Doing something that makes me happy is more important. It's important for my mental health.

I did 25+ years in customer service... It ruined me. Going back is not an option, and if I had to, I don't think I'd survive emotionally this time around.

Cross your fingers that I actually find something, especially at my age. Being in my 40s, I'm starting to lose hope.

I am so very sorry for your losses :( 🤗❤ Have You thought about freelancing?

@NativePortlander1970 Thank you. I have thought about freelancing, but at the same time don't know if I would be able to get the software for the modeling program (Autodesk Maya) on my own. People who hire freelancers don't always pay for the programs modelers need to get the job done, so I would have to have the money to get it. Unfortunately, it's around $300 for a whole year, and I am unemployed and have no money of my own.
@PoisonLace $300? That's insane, I remember when programs were a buy once and own forever thing.

@NativePortlander1970 Yeah, and now they want to drain you for everything. I know. It's an industry thing where they are also trying to survive.
@PoisonLace I'm so sick and tired of their greed
