Yes. There are fake job postings (company is either not actually hiring and is lying or company is going to hire internally but feels the need to make a posting anyway) and many large companies employ automated filtering of applications. Additionally there is a flood of scams posing as job opportunities. I got lucky with my current job because of a previous connection I had had with the company in the past.

@DDonde they do it either to choose candidate(s) far in the future, use the data to train AI, sell the data to the highest bidder, and/or make money from government grants

@uikakarotuevegeta by the way it is extremely hard for someone who is in their late twenties to find a job when they've never actually held a job working for someone else.
