While I don't think it happens too much in the middle class working world, I'm sure it happens more in the big city, financial, corporate and political world.

There appears to be limits, even among the most dedicated. I knew a woman who "dated" up two levels, but the guy above him was gay, so she had to settle for mid-level mgmt.
Then someone with an MBA came in and fired all of them.
