I'm right with you. I let my boss know the other day. 16 months.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Firecat33 i do an odd cimbo of things which will be hard to find but i am willing to train my replacement. You were generous

Good for you. You definitely deserve this. Keep in touch and enjoy life!
akindheart · 61-69, F
@jjoe01 hugs my friend. i don't expect to be on SW much. The main goal is to slow down.
@akindheart Exactly, do what you like and be happy. 🤗
braveheart21 · 61-69, M
Im so happy you have decided to retire... Please dont change your mind... Enjoy your freetime and relaxation... You have earned it and more.. 🤗🤗
akindheart · 61-69, F
@braveheart21 aww thanks my friend. nope, it is time for me to stop working but I will treat retirement like a job. I won't be lazy!
jim44444 · 70-79, M
Great. I tell anyone who will listen to retire as soon as they can. I retired 7 hears ago and have no regrets. There is so much to do, so many places to see. And days to just relax.
@jim44444 I am agreeing with you, my friend. All the years of working so hard and look at the results. Our health slowly dwindles. We have to struggle the last few years until retirement. I cannot wait until I can retire from the rat race. Happy holidays to you and your wife. Merry Christmas.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@PoetryNEmotion back at you
akindheart · 61-69, F
@jim44444 i just want to slow down
LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
Things I learned…

Money isn’t everything.
Don’t get lazy. Be committed. Keep a schedule of things to do.
Friends are important.
LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
@akindheart Yes. All I meant was some people think retirement needs to be lavish with travel and a cottage on the water etc. As long as your basic needs are met, enjoy the simple things in life.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@LunarOrbit I am self supporting so i had to think of the money. I make very good money so giving it up was a big decision. i started paying off debt as fast as i could and i am in pretty good shape. i have never been lavish on anything!
LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
@akindheart Sounds well planned. Good for you! I’m glad you can make it all work out :)
sciguy18 · M
Trying to figure out when to retire is often a difficult decision. I was seriously contemplating it last year after my health issues. I’m actually glad I stayed as it gives me a purpose. Of course, a time will come when I say that’s enough.

Good for you for coming to that point. It sounds like you have things to occupy your time; which I think is critical in retirement. I’ve always heard that you shouldn’t retire from something, but to something.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@sciguy18 that is excellent advice. I have always had hobbies but could never get to them. We have a lady in our office thats 79 with no hobbies. So she works
You have plenty to keep that deep mind busy. And your body too. I don't understand why people work past retirement. So ready to retire here. Nursing took its physical toll upon my body. Forget the financial chase. Live your retirement as well as your life with grace, energy, and joy. Good news this is for you, my distant friend.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@PoetryNEmotion hugs cyn. Thsnks for your positive message. I think i am in good shape all around. I have planned
@akindheart I love to see you here, my dear. This upcoming year is turning around for me as this one already has. You are prepared and I know you will explore retirement with all the vigour and excitement you possess. Keep us updated once in a while too. I will join that group in about 3.5 years.
Indy74 · 46-50, F
After many years of working, you deserve to have a wonderful retirement. You have so much to look forward to. Places to go and time to do some of your favorite things. Sometimes contentment and happiness in life make you live a longer and healthier life. 👏🙏🤗
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Indy74 thank you for the kind words. I noticed that i am still very active as compared to others my age. For instance, we were in Egypt and i was one of the few that climbed inside the great pyramid. I was a little surprised. so keeping busy is a must
Indy74 · 46-50, F
@akindheart you are so welcome.....i think youre gonna be just fine!! 💖
TexChik · F
Because I am self employed now , retirement does not sound as enticing as it might otherwise , and we are probably retiring to the farm … so there will always be work to do . Neither my husband or I have any retirement dreams as of yet.

However I am glad that it’s something you look forward to .
akindheart · 61-69, F
@TexChik my job is very stressful and with the illegals and their fraudulent claims i was pretty stressed. I was always rushed on.my trips.
Retirement is a wonderful thing and a time to learn and to discover new things in life.

Experience a world you never really knew existed.

Grasp life with both hands and live life how you want to .Its your life .live it for yourself.

There's a big world out there. X

@TheStranger i think the biggest adjustment i have to make is to slow down. I saw yoga at night which i wsnt to take
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
You're smart enough to say "enough!". You've been working most of your life and it is time to do what you want to do. Wait for later? Later won't come until you say so.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Crazywaterspring exactly. I have worked since i was a teenager. Its time
Hugs my friend
