I used to work for an engineering outsourcing company and then moved to the customer's company. I was able to find a job that still offered enough flexibility and I was really happy with having more decision making ability for technical issues.
The company was eliminating contractor positions, but offered some people full time employee positions with health insurance.

Not full time but part time. Started part time. Eventually got a full time job with them and became a shareholder of the company's subsidiary
