If you are looking for risk, take it.. and talk with people who can help you. All I will say. Why stay in something you don't love?

@SW-User I do like what I do but the pay is really low

SW-User
@Lilliesandlight What do you do for work?
Lilliesandlight · 41-45, F
@SW-User I do front office work at a doctor's office. The work is alright but there is ridiculous drama that makes me hate working there

SW-User
@Lilliesandlight Personal work drama? That could be found anywhere, I'm sorry. But I do gather that might be more acceptable if you enjoyed the work you did?
Lilliesandlight · 41-45, F
@SW-User yes. And if I got paid well. Well enough to make up for the nonsense

SW-User
@Lilliesandlight The work environment is toxic and one way to give yourself more options is to up your ability and skiils. :)
Lilliesandlight · 41-45, F
@SW-User yes, exactly. I want to be able to have skills that would make me valuable

SW-User
@Lilliesandlight You could try telling your workplace how you feel it toxic.... but often I sadly think that falls on deaf ears, and you are right to give yourself more options.
Lilliesandlight · 41-45, F
@SW-User I tried to make things better. I was lied to and ignored

SW-User
@Lilliesandlight If you can, look for new work while upgrading your skills? You escape where you were and also at the same time make yourself more desirable as an employee. I think you are looking in the ways that are healthy.

@SW-User thank you!

SW-User
@Lilliesandlight You are welcome, I don't think I helped that much.. and where you are looking towards can be found in colleges. And you never know, what you find it the meantime you appreciate, or you find you love going to school again.

My job (Power Plant Operator/Mechanic)
Is super taxing on my body and health. Hell, I'm the oldest one working, and they all think im in my lower 50's instead of lower 60's. I say all the time, "I'm too old for this shit!" Literally. But the pay is the highest in the state for Blue collar.
Soon. Very soon, I'll say I've had enough, and just go write a book and get published.
I tell my son's not to get in a job field that they hate. Remember, follow your dreams.

@Montanaman you should write a book! We would all love to read it. I hope you get to retire soon ☺️
