I think after 20 years of practice, a Registered Nurse should be allowed to test for an MD degree

A 20 year nursing veteran has a lot more knowledge and practical experience than a first year intern MD. I’m not discounting a medical school education but a veteran nurse should be allowed to take a well designed test and be awarded an MD degree if successful. Just my opinion.

I'd agree but I have to mention the importance of continuing education; sure veteran nurses have lots of experience but things change throughout the years and we have to keep up with them through seminars and what not. Also, nurses could focus on exalting their own profession rather than depending solely on doctors, they have their own job and they're not there just to follow orders. Why would they want to have the MD title if they can be just as good as the doctors, but in a different profession? I study nursing myself, I have professors who are nurses and they do everything from stoma care to inserting central venous catheters to psychotherapy. Currently there is a movement within us to make us able to prescribe certain meds (which already happens in various countries but not in mine yet).
Being a doctor and a nurse are still different, though, and as the years go by and nurses start learning to do the job that the MDs are supposed to be doing but for less money of course, the MDs will focus on something else and make progress in something even more specialized.

@HannibalAteMeOut I’m simply proposing an option. Nurses would be free to pursue doctoral degrees in nursing or PA designation. The well designed test I envision would cover the need for current and continuing education I mentioned.

I’m Canada we have nurse practitioners that are the same as general practice physicians in most ways
From providing the same care to prescribing meds @HannibalAteMeOut
There has to be a test about whether or not nurses and doctors will push dangerous vaccines onto their patients
@LeopoldBloom you must only watch main stream news. Do some research and you'll see how more vaccinated people are going to the hospital

@Stargazer89 But a larger proportion of those who are unvaccinated are hospitalised.

@Stargazer89 it is so those interns can gain some experience too :)

Nah. I have doctors in my family and a nurse. I don’t think so... Some nurses are nurses because the load of work in medical school is not for everyone ...
@InHeaven are they all vaccinated?

@littlepuppywantanewlife i don't know...I stopped communicating with them. I would assume that tho
