I have a house watcher for when I’m away, it’s called a sister and while technically free, she costs in fridge contents, ice cream and drinks.

I was a house sitter during the nights for a few weeks while the owners were on vacation to Europe in the early 90's. I was not allowed to cook or eat there, I had to sleep on a mat on the floor, I had to be out of the house by 7am, not allowed back in until 6pm, and not allowed to use the bathroom, but it paid $1,000
