Would you go back to this restaurant if you were in my shoes?

Less than a month ago, a manager at the restaurant I frequent (and worked at for a bit) flipped out, tried to shame me in front of a crowd for forgetting my wallet, and got another manager to join in. Then they kicked me out.

So I called the owner (let's call him D). He's an amazingly kind man. I told him about what happened and told him I was so embarrassed I was shaking. He was sympathetic, said he would talk to those managers the next day, and then call me back. Though he never called.

Several days later, I attempted to call him. No answer so I left a voice mail. No answer. Another couple days later, I texted him and asked him if I was welcome back to the restaurant. He texted back to say yes I was, and if I have any more issues, I can call him directly.

I've been a customer since they opened 15-20 years ago and I want to go back because D is honestly just a really great guy and this was the only bad experience I've ever had. But him not contacting me back, and those two managers doing what they did, I'm not sure I should step foot in there anymore.

Would you go back if this happened to you?

Is there more to this than you’re telling us? Two managers and a restaurant full of strangers, and then the owner. That’s a lot of people. What did you do to earn their scorn?
@BoredDarkLord I have memory issues and it's not the first time I've forgotten my wallet. I offered to show D a doctor's note to prove it although he said it wasn't necessary.
@BoredDarkLord Also, each and every time, I went home to get my wallet and I did successfully pay; except for the very first time when the manager told me not to worry about it.

@SinlessOnslaught they probably think your lying and trying to get free food or are frustrated it keeps happening but honestly i wouldnt go back or just order their food with uber eats
@DarkSideoftheMoon I think they thought I was trying to get free food until I said I have memory issues and offered to show a doc's note.

But yeah thanks for your answer.

@SinlessOnslaught regardless they handled it poorly.
@DarkSideoftheMoon D was amazing as always, besides not calling back. 😕

@SinlessOnslaught yeah that was shaddy. Sometimes i double and triple check i have my keys and cards on me beforehand. Om just an anxious person though so im always making sure i have stuff even though i know i do because i already checked
@DarkSideoftheMoon Yeah it's not anxiety for me. I just left my apartment and legit couldn't remember if I locked the door behind me.

@SinlessOnslaught ah yeah thats the same with me sometimes. I forget so i keep checking. Sometimes i panic because i cant find my phone and im literally talking on it
@DarkSideoftheMoon It's every time for me.

@DarkSideoftheMoon I do that too… I was the worst when either of my children were newborn… I would check my bag for all these crazy things for “just in cases”
@BoredDarkLord So do you have an answer to my question?
DarkSideoftheMoon · 36-40, F
@WaryWitchWandering god, i feel like im going to be a very anxious mom
@SinlessOnslaught For so many people to have come to the same conclusion about you, something else other than you forgetting your wallet must have happened.

@DarkSideoftheMoon you’ll do great 😊
@BoredDarkLord You mean two people?
@SinlessOnslaught Two people and then later the owner. Also the crowd you mentioned, none of who decided to speak for you.
@BoredDarkLord People from crowds aren't willing to get involved. Bystander effect.

I told you everything, man.
