It is possible that my husbands business is going out of business.

And it's not going to be pretty to go thru this situation. I'm not sure what's going to happen. I'm just hoping it doesn't happen? I don't want to watch a man. -any man- especially my loving husband--lose his dreams. I'll be front and center. And I'm not sure how we will, if we will survive. Say a prayer for us, send us positive vibes. He's a very good man. A hard working man. An honest man. I hope I'm wrong. Yesterday I heard him say he's not going to accept any more customers. He lost a couple (at least a couple, maybe more) because he can't keep up with the work. But he doesn't charge enough to be able to hire more help. Ironically he isn't greedy enough to survive? That's going to be a tough breaking point. It may be too late for him to charge more. He's pulling back and isn't going to want to tell me how bad things are. I don't know how to be supportive. If you're someone who has been thru this, I'd appreciate advice on how to remain hopeful and supportive while seeming to be falling.i want to be wrong.

I am just in the very beginning, so I do not have any advice, but an observation:
Opening a business is like getting myself into a Current, that runs with a different speed than regular, normal, everyday life. And I am learning to not be afraid of it, although it is very scary, especially for someone like me, a bubble bee, an artist.

But then I find it interesting and challenging, the days that I do have the right energy and attitude.

As ironic as this might be, he might need to work less - yes, he might need to take a vacation, a couple of days to do something fun, and then to return ?

Excuse me if I come across as inconsiderate and perhaps too youthful - I can see that - but I am answering from the place where I am and where I see things. It is horrifying, but perhaps it is a calling ?
To approach things in a slightly different way. Sometimes it is a small change ?
I wish all the best.
No pity, that’s true. But I think the only way to help is to sit down and lovingly explain you know the business is in trouble and you want to help in every way you can. Most people fear most the “telling the family part.”

Say it or write it. But make sure he knows you’re there, no judgements. If the business goes, together you’ll find a new way.

Just be sure not to pity him at all. He doesn’t sound like the type to take that well.

As for hope, just mix it with a little faith that he will come through for both of you. Just like he has in the past.

I wish the both of you much luck and success.

@HikingMan thank you. I will keep hoping, thank you. This may be a time for me to be speechless. Because I don't know...anything I haven't been here before....thank you for the good wishes

Good luck to you both. These are not the best of times, so be careful if looking at desperate measures. They may mean a deeper hole to dig yourselves out of. And the recovery is a long way off.😷

I don't know what kind of business it is and perhaps this suggestion is too late but I'll give it anyway.

It sounds like the work is what he understands and enjoys not business or money side of things, so if you were able to take that part off his shoulders perhaps it could be made to work.
