Some considered thoughts on A.I.

There is a lot of interest in AI right now. And having done some thinking on the subject, I think its a minefield. Particularly for Investors, or for people looking to make a career out of it. Dont get me wrong. AI is a game changer. Its just going to be a lot harder to exploit for profit that everyone seems to think.
First, because AI is going to create its own evolution, faster than any coder can generate new ideas or codes.. Second, because AI is itself only a tool. In the same way language or the internet is a tool.
It is not the be all and end all in itself. It is an enabler..A gatherer. The commercial applications come later and will be more mundane..
So before you plan your new career in AI. Figure out what you are going to do with it that people will pay you for. And do it before the AI programme does it..😷

I am so glad that you have spelt out some obvious characteristics that seem to be missing from a lot of the debates.

AI is itself only a tool.

It is an enabler..A gatherer.

I have a friend who talks about AI as if it's some kind of infallible source of wisdom and who takes his advice for everything from it. I explain that it is only re-hashing what it has found on the net and if it's not there it can't report it or take it into consideration.

As for your point about investing in it, it could well be that, like the '.com bubble' some years ago, as AI's need for actual humans to get the best out of it is understood, the profits won't be as long term as hoped for. To take another example, robotics certainly removed some people from the production line in some industries, but there are still people there. I think some of the predictions about AI taking over are more sci-fi/wishful thinking than reality.

@ArishMell Everybody wants to steal these days. There are radiologists thinking they can do autopsy by scanning the body. What is the point of that? You need to open the body to see how it died. But they don't want to do that. They hate that.

Souhlasím s tím, že umělá inteligence je hlavně nástroj. Sama o sobě nic nevybuduje. Rozdíl bude dělat člověk, který ji umí použít smysluplně a nabídne něco, co má skutečnou hodnotu. Technologie se mění rychle. Lidský pohled, zkušenost a vlastní hlas se nahrazují mnohem hůř. Čas ukáže, kdo stavěl na módní vlně a kdo na pevných základech. 🖤
