I don't understand something about the Cable T.V companies.....

Namely, why their prices seem to be as high as ever. Its a known fact that with all of the different options available (streaming ,free viewing from public libraries)people are "cord-cutting"-stopping service on their regular cable T.V -more than ever. When a businesses model is facing competition from other models, isn't it usual to lower prices as an incentive to continue with the service? And yet the cable companies haven't done that.I don't understand why.

You have to call them up and threaten to cancel...THEN they make you a deal.

@uncalled4 But given the situation,it doesn't make sense that they wouldn't be OFFERING deals like crazy just to get people to stay on.And certainly not out of the goodness of their heart:it's what any business would usually do when being threatened by a competitor.

@DavidT8899 Yes, it does. They're hoping you forget about it. In my case, I was about to cancel when I realized that I have little competition in my area. So, I chose to call them up. Just doing that saved me 80 bucks a month. I also got bumper-to-bumper coverage on my Honda for 10 bucks a month, first asking price was $100+.

If you think people are going to volunteer deals to you, you are mistaken.

@uncalled4 Not under ordinary circumstances,no.Im not that navie. But when you're in a situation where you are losing boatloads of customers because of cheaper and more efficient methods, then yes,it is customary to go out of your way to offer savings and discounts,if only to insure your own survival.

@DavidT8899 They're not going to do that, even if it sinks them, and it probably will. Consider that, at one point, Blockbuster was in a position to BUY Netflix, but did not. There are a bunch of people with blinders on out there.
