It's a tough business

I gathered up my birds
took em to the
songbird store;
-Shocked, when
I got there
and heard:

"We don't want
your birds
no more!...

Our customers
are some upset
say they'll take their business
elsewhere"...

Apparently
they steal cigarettes
and won't sing,
- just swear..

So I made a grand
gesture:
I opened the cage
and set them free..

but driving back
I knew for sure
-they'd be waiting
at home
for me
