@4meAndyou The last little house cat I had liked to lay on my bed with me when I had a tv in the bedroom. One afternoon there was a documentary about the lives of cats. It caught her eye and she laid there and watched the entire hour long show with me. She learned what the word “Cat” meant. Shortly afterward I had the patio door open a bit because the apartment was warm and they hadn’t switched over to A/C yet. A cat came inside and walked over the sofa and acted like he was going to spray it. I got a broom and chased him out. The next morning (A Sunday) I had the patio door open about 6 inches with a dowel rod in the track so nobody could open it up and wanted to lay back down and sleep again. I told my cat to watch for cats. She parked herself right by the opening and stayed there till I took my nap. And a couple months later there was a dog documentary. She laid there and watched the whole thing for an hour. Then when I would see a dog through the patio door window I’d tell her “There’s a dog” and she’d run over and watch and growl as it walked past the building. 😂 She had learned what the word “dog” meant too.

@4meAndyou What was funny was when I was working in the athletic center dorms the Coordinator had his own little apartment and two big black and white cats. He believed they should be outdoors at least part of the day to get fresh air. One day I decided to take my break on top of the fire escape stairs (4th floor) and one of his cats walked up there and sat down by me. I was watching people walk by on the sidewalk below. Told that cat “Look there’s a dog!” And he looked down just as if he understood me and watched the dog the entire time it was there. I think these pets understand a whole lot more words and phrases than we know. The girl’s coordinator also had a cat. She was gone during Winter break to another state and left the cat in her apartment and had someone care for her. The cat had free rein on first floor and one morning it was raining hard. She was sitting in front of the glass door looking out. I walked by and called her by name and told her it would be better to sit by a window in the living room, that way she wouldn’t get wet (people coming in and out sometimes). She got right up and went to the first window and jumped up on the windowsill and watched there.

@4meAndyou There are a lot of these channels to choose from too. Some have very colorful backgrounds, like a lot of greenery and flowers behind the tree stump with the food or the table or whatever they are feeding from. On a large-screen tv it’s really beautiful.
