The Wild Birds Ate Most Of The Suet Block That I Hung On A Branch Before The Ice Storms Begun…

I went outside to replace the suet block, heard a cardinal singing in a tree. Held up the suet feeder with the new block and waved it at the cardinal to show him he has a new one to pick at.

They absolutely love suet in the winter. Normally they get fat and protein from eating bugs, but in the winter those are scarce.

@4meAndyou yeah there was a ornithologist who was a professor here who said that birds can starve to death in the winter if they can’t find food especially if there is snow or ice covering the surfaces. He did autopsies on birds that were found dead, found a roadrunner one winter with cigarette butts and screws and other such things in it’s stomach. He encouraged residents to put out some food for wild birds in the winter.
