2 dozen Welcome Swallows showing off at the disco

Very often one will see these swallows congregate and showing off, flying hither and thither.
They are very social birds and it would appear that they flit about like this for the sheer joy of being around their "friends and neighbours.
Welcome Swallows are so called because people welcome the coming of spring in southern Australia.

I was given to understand that swallows gather like that over food in the form of swarms of flying insects.. But I may be corrected on that..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman They do. There were no swarms of insects on this occasion.
I could see that they were not catching insects on the fly.
Just cavorting about, showing off.🙂
