My brother had a variation of that feeder. The weight of the squirrel closed the openings to the seeds. It took the squirrels about a week to discover that they can grasp the bar and jump up and down, thus shaking the seeds on the ground to be taken at their leisure. 🤣
He paid full price for his feeder and was soon back to chasing them away with a BB gun.

@bowman81 I have a Nerf gun that shoots foam bullets. If they spend that much time jumping up and down on the bar they better watch out.

@4meAndyou I’d like to get some poles and put springs underneath them so that when the squirrel climbs up he starts bouncing up and down. Or grease the pole so good he would always slide down.

@NativePortlander1970 Only works if I am home to see something going on. I am surprised that a few haven’t been blown to smithereens since the crime rate with transients has risen so much in the past few years here. I read reports people post online all the damn time nowadays. People trying to get in their homes with them there at home, they get photos on their security cams. Anything that they can pick up and carry off is subject to theft. Including a man’s insulated water cup he had in his front yard while he was mowing his front yard. It’s that bad.
@cherokeepatti Because the Penny case, and others before him, make others too scared to do anything. Myself, I would rather be judged by twelve than carried by six.
