Dooby dooby dooby dooby dooby dooby doo -- what bird says that?

Once upon a time I knew which bird would call like that. But I forgot, and I didn't look today. One of the cardinal's calls perhaps?

[c=800000]I don't think that's a cardinal. Cardinals make a "Pea-tow, pea-toe" and "Phew, phew" sound as well as the "Tick. Tick." sound. [/c]

@ProfessorPlum77 Next time I will have to go out and look!

@Poppies Last summer (2021) while on my walk, a cardinal landed on a wooden fence next to me and made several calls, as if it was teaching me his vocabulary. Ever since that time, when I hear certain songs, I know it is a cardinal.

It’s a crow in an old cartoon. Can’t remember which one but I can see it. Although Sinatra sang it!

@JesseInTX he's got the words! Different tune. I don't think it is a crow. And I think I can refine the pattern. "Dooby dooby dooby doo. Dooby dooby dooby dooby doo."

Poppies · 61-69, F
@Pretzel Right words but wrong tune!
Poppies · 61-69, F
@metaldog I've never seen a cuckoo. I was thinking it was something more common than that.
