Red Capped Parrot - (my photograph) Found only in South West Western Australia. The male is more colourful than the female, dark green except for the distinctive red cap on his head, lime green cheeks and rump, pale purple chest, with red under the tail. About 12" long, including the tail. They are related to rosellas and live in Eucalypt forests . Their diet consists of seeds of Eucalypts, especially Marri, casuarinas, grevilleas, hakeas and grasses. They lay 4 - 6 eggs in tree hollows high above the ground. The eggs incubate in 20 days. Not endangered.

I was just about to compliment your new PFP in my thread, but came here to get a better look and saw this post. Glad I did because I also learned some pretty cool facts about the precious little creature. I looked at the comments and have to ask, do you guys eat them? I'd say it makes sense for population control considering they produce so fast.
@Gusman Oh thank goodness. By working in wildlife rescue, I know hunting is necessary to avoid overpopulation so I wasn't sure and wanted to be kind about it. But shew, I'm sure am glad. Now I'm laughing at myself.😅 😌
@ML2022 What?Hunting is NOT necessary.Wildlife finds its own population levels.Thats the typical bullshit spouted by the hunting lobby."We only kill animals because its good for them".
