I did Ancestry and it was fairly vague. Didn’t tell me anything g I didn’t already know really.

@JonLosAngeles66 Wow, you’re more Irish than my friend who was born there. She was 85% Irish, 10% Scottish, 5%Greek (which puzzled her beyond words).
JonLosAngeles66 · M
@bijouxbroussard yeah I’m surprised too actually. 7 of my 8 great grandparents were from Ireland. The 1 not Irish was a direct Mayflower descendent. So I was expecting some English. I guess we Irish creep into every bloodline even blue bloods. Lol. So I guess it was more eye opening than I described. Lol
JonLosAngeles66 · M
@bijouxbroussard well Greeks did conquer the world!

I have always wanted to do one of those but cant be assed to pay the price they normally charge for it haha
WintaTheAngle · 41-45, M
@Torsten I agree. I only had mine done because it was a gift.
Torsten · 36-40, M
@WintaTheAngle good gift

Before I tested I used to joke that there was probably little it would tell me that my mirror didn’t. My family’s originally from Louisiana, black, French and Native. So testing indicated I’m African (Nigerian, Kenyan & Sierra Leonean) European (French, Irish) and on my mother’s side, Middle Eastern. One test found 2% Native.
No, I don't want my DNA stored in a database
WintaTheAngle · 41-45, M
@Souls Wooooo the government
Miram · 31-35, F
Yes, sub saharan african, berber, jew , turk and some arab percentage
DrSunnyTheSkeptic · 26-30, M
I'd love to do one of those eventually, curious what'd come up
SW-User
Nope, but I think that would be interesting.
Fluffybull · F
That's fascinating! 👏👏👍
exchrist · 31-35
Pretty cool when I had mine done is came back as King David 100%. Irish, German, French, Native American; Is my heritage though.
Reflection2 · M
Doesn't it suppose to show some African lineage in every human DNA?
WintaTheAngle · 41-45, M
@Reflection2 The report I got was just the vague product report everyone gets. I’m sure it a university was doing it an African element would show up. But you don’t get that level of info for £50.
Reflection2 · M
@WintaTheAngle That is what I was thinking because we all have same place of origin, after all.
For instance, Mongolian DNA is very common because of their atrocities around the globe, when they captured a huge part of the world.

I have not. I'm just some white idiot, I doubt it matters beyond that XD
Quite a mix.
WintaTheAngle · 41-45, M
@V00doo Yes apparently I’m a mongrel
Fluffybull · F
@WintaTheAngle Most of us are ☺️
@WintaTheAngle We all are 🤣 Im a Scotts/Irish/Cypriot/North African/ Arab mix 🤷♀️
empanadas · 31-35, M
Yeah I'm still shocked i'm more European than black. Took it twice and it came back similar.
SW-User
@empanadas you Portuguese bastard
empanadas · 31-35, M
@SW-User lmao 😂 I'm part Portuguese according to the DNA tests
SW-User
@empanadas fucking hell ☠️ That was a total stab in the dark
SW-User
Yeah it was mostly pretty obvious.
I think it was 84% Irish, 10% English, a few percent Welsh and the same amount French (which was the only real surprise)

@SW-User I’m guess you live over the west side of Ireland. I was a little frustrated that the report didn’t break down 32% Celt/Irish part. I’ve got a branch of my family I know hail from far west of Cornwall but there’s a rumour in my family about how an Irishman was adopted by my relative so he could inherit their land in gratitude for some unrecorded event in the 1800s. I guess it will just stay a story.
