Haunted rental house
I travel for work. I have for years now and living in hotels half of the year, finally got old. I've also done the RV thing and lived in my 40' fifth wheel for a couple years whenever I was away from home. I have a house, but don't always see it regularly.
So recently I've discovered that you can rent houses for the same if not less than hotels. I'm sure this isn't a new thing, but I never knew about it.
I have this unique ability to read the mood or energy or the feeling of a place when I walk into it. I don't notice it immediately, but after a little while I do, and then I think back to my actions when I had first gotten there, and they always line up with the way the place makes me feel.
For example, I am currently in North Carolina, staying in a house for a couple of weeks that I rented. When I first got here, I did my walk through and checked it all out and went back and forth between the 3 bedrooms at least 4 times before picking one.
Fast forward to later that evening and that's when I had started feeling uncomfortable and didn't feel alone at all. I ended up closing all the bedroom.doors and then remembered all the trouble I had picking a room, which is what I mean about thinking back to my initial actions whenever I'm in a new place for any amount of time.
I've been at this 100+ year old house now for a little over a week now and there hasn't been a quiet moment in the house yet. My son, who also works with me, is here as well and he is the same as me when it comes to being aware of the mood of different places. We usually always have the same feelings about places. For this house we talked about it on the second day after the first night of doors opening and closing, lights being on in the morning that were off when we went to bed, voices, and just constant noises. It's funny. We'll be on opposite ends of the house and call each other to ask if it was us in a certain room, or if the other heard whatever noise we did. I've seen things move past the lights on the digital clock across the room, figures moving in the one corner of the bedroom and constantly hear the closet door opening and closing in the last bedroom that neither of us are in. Just writing this now, I've heard noises as if someone were walking up and down the hallway.
This house doesn't have a negative feel to it at all, which is good, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to stay. When places have a negative feeling, it will drain the life out of me completely and I'll never relax at all. This house feels busy, like there are other people all around, all the time. That's the best way to describe it.
It's only me here alone now for the weekend, my son went home, so we'll see how much fun it is without someone else to confirm that the things we see and hear actually happened and without an obvious explanation.
