I experienced one. Nothing else in life indicates the paranormal exists and I don't believe in such things, conspiracies or aliens. But one night a long time ago has never made sense to me and has haunted me in a way. I just got whole body goosebumps writing this sentence, as I always do when I think of what happened.
As a teenager, about 6 of us were going to pitch a tent and hang out at a small campground on the edge of town, a suburb. For a number of us kids, a large back parking lot of a fast food burger joint was hang-out central.
I just happened to talk to a guy who was kind of new and told him of our plans. He said something spooky (this was many years ago and I forgot the exact words) was going to happen that night. He said he had been involved in the occult down in Florida and his dad moved them to Indiana to get him away from it.
So, this is strange, but I didn't think a whole lot of it at the time. I didn't believe in things like that, anyway.
We get to the campsite, set up, gather some wood and build a fire. We sit around drinking, smoking pot, listening to music and talking.
Sometime in the early morning hours, still dark, we needed more firewood. One guy had fallen asleep on a sleeping bag so the five of us went into the woods and ended up wandering about and exploring.
We stopped where a really big old tree had fallen and sat on it, talking specifically how spiritual nature was. One guy wasn't in the conversation, but was laying on the big tree trunk.
