I was thinking about the show, The Magicians this morning

And in the show, the use of magic has consequences.

If magic were in your world, would there be consequences for using it, or is it unregulated?

There probably would be laws to only use it for good, like guns. Though that wouldn't entirely stop it from being used for evil, like guns.

@FoxyQueen yes, she has that part correct at least. Not much else, but this shows evil people can do something good occasionally.

@NerdyPotato I like the idea of unregulated magic. Like, there is really only social mores and contracts that regulate it. Sure, you can be an evil warlock. Magic isn't the issue. Magic is neutral. Your intentions are the problem.
@FoxyQueen that's an interesting way to look at it. In an ideal world I'd like that too. In our current world, I rather depend on law and proper enforcement of that than on people's morality though.

@NerdyPotato yeah, we have proven we can't rely on people understanding and agreeing to what is and isn't morally right.
