"I swear there ain't no heaven, and I pray there ain't no hell."
That type thinking represents a grossly distorted view of what happens to our soul after we die, and is void of any understanding at all, of just how horrible hell is.
Jesus says not to gamble with your own soul. Jesus wants us to understand that salvation is not based off of what man believes, but rather what Jesus stated in His Word, that counts. Miss that, and you have missed everything.
There IS hope out there. Jesus didn't leave us to guess about that. Unplanned death is a very scary thought and Jesus didn't want us to be afraid when we die. He said if you prepare right now, you'll know exactly where you're going when you die, and He came to prove it by His own example. Jesus didn't say "maybe" you'll go to heaven. He told us we would definitely go to heaven, if we'll prepare our souls and allow Him to help us get there.
When we invite Jesus into our hearts and lives as Savior, he forgives our sins and this prepares us to be with him in heaven for eternity. No guessing about it. Over 500 Witnesses saw Jesus's death and then after he rose from the dead, he stayed amongst them for days to make sure they saw that he had risen again from the dead and then they all watched him ascend into heaven, to his Heavenly Father. His mission was to show us and tell us how to get to heaven and when He was finished with that mission, He ascended back to His Father in Heaven. But of course, if you don't want to believe that and take Jesus at His word, then no, you're not going to go to heaven. That's what Jesus said, because we cannot walk into heaven with sin on our heels. I don't know why people don't understand why Jesus came all the way from heaven, as if He just came for a vacation. No. He paid for our sins on the cross, because He was the only one worthy enough to do that, since He is sinless, and whosoever believes in Him and accepts Him as their Savior, is guaranteed everlasting life, as well, if they will allow Him to wash away their sins by His love and grace. There's really no excuse for anyone to miss heaven, unless they just refuse to believe God. We don't ever get to Heaven by our own efforts, but by taking God at His word, and by trusting in Him and His promise to save us from the condemnation that sin placed on us. God never breaks a promise. Nor will He turn any away.
