Do You Believe in Ghosts?

I just bought a new house.

My friend asked, "What if you only got a good deal on it because it is haunted?"

I said, "Then I will make a new friend."

I wasn’t given a choice to believe. The land my grandparents farmed was an airbase during the war. The base is gone, but what remains used to make me afraid. We don’t talk about it and do our best to keep the locals out.

@Ceinwyn Why that secrecy? I accept you don't want everyone wandering across your property where there are no public rights-of-way, but why not talk about it? It's of historical interest surely, not something to fear! You'd more likely have people believe you are hiding something than in it being haunted.

The site of the nearest WW2 airfield to me is now an industrial estate. One near the village of Podington in Northamptonshire, is now Santa Pod [drag-racing] Raceway.

@ArishMell People cause trouble. When they find something they attract more, when they find nothing they get angry and cause damage, and spread word sbout that you’re a family of freaks.

The dead men in the fields are a bad enough, the living arseholes are an even bigger problem.

@Ceinwyn So it is a cemetery as well?

@ArishMell No. But it was the last solid ground those men ever set foot on.
